Beta v1.1.2 — Mac requires macOS 10.15 or later · Windows requires Windows 10 or later

CashFlower is a private, offline financial planning app for Mac and Windows. No bank connections, no third-party services, no data leaving your device — just a simple tool for forecasting your financial future on your own terms.

What CashFlower Does

Cash flow forecasting

See exactly where your money will be months, years, or even decades from now. Enter your income, bills, and recurring expenses once — CashFlower projects your balances forward so you can plan ahead with confidence.

No subscription, no account, no cloud

CashFlower is free to download and runs entirely on your Mac or Windows PC. There's no sign-up, no monthly fee, and no internet connection required — ever.

Your data stays on your device

Unlike most budgeting apps, CashFlower never connects to your bank and never uploads your data. It's an offline-first personal finance tool designed for people who take privacy seriously.

⚠ Windows users: SmartScreen security prompt Because CashFlower is new software without a long signing history, Windows may show a blue "Windows protected your PC" warning when you run the installer. This is normal for new applications. To proceed:
  1. Click More info in the warning dialog
  2. Click Run anyway
CashFlower is safe to install. It makes no network connections and installs only to your user profile.

Privacy & Security — The Short Version

CashFlower lives entirely on your device. It never connects to the internet, never talks to your bank, and never sends your data anywhere. Your financial information stays on your computer, period.

Your Data

Does CashFlower connect to my bank?

No. CashFlower has no bank integration and makes no network connections of any kind. Everything you see in the app is information you entered yourself.

Do I need to enter my account numbers?

No. CashFlower only needs your current account balances — a single number per account. You never enter account numbers, routing numbers, card numbers, or any credentials.

Does CashFlower collect my personal information?

No name, email, phone number, Social Security number, or date of birth is required or collected. The only personal information in the app is what you choose to type.

Where is my data stored?

On Mac, in a SQLite database at ~/Library/Application Support/com.cashflower/data/cashflower.db. On Windows, at %APPDATA%\com.cashflower\data\cashflower.db. You own this file completely — back it up, copy it, or delete it at any time.

Is my data encrypted?

Not in the current beta. The file is protected by your OS user account but is not encrypted at rest. Encryption is on our roadmap.

The App Itself

Does CashFlower require an internet connection?

No. CashFlower works completely offline. An internet connection is never required.

Does CashFlower phone home?

No. There are no usage analytics, no crash reporters, no license checks, and no update notifications. The app is entirely self-contained.

What CashFlower Cannot Do (By Design)

Can CashFlower automatically import my transactions?

No, and this is intentional. Automatic imports require sharing banking credentials with a third party. We chose not to build this — your credentials stay with your bank.

Can CashFlower pay my bills or see my actual spending?

No. CashFlower is a planning and forecasting tool only. It cannot initiate transactions or access account activity unless you manually update your balances.

Honest Limitations (Beta)

The database is not encrypted.

Your data is stored in a plain SQLite file readable by any app running under your user account. Encryption is on our roadmap.

No password or PIN.

Whoever can open your computer can open CashFlower. A biometric or PIN lock is planned.

Single device only.

CashFlower data lives on one device. iCloud sync and cross-device access are planned features.

Windows: no code signing reputation yet.

The Windows installer will trigger a SmartScreen warning until the app builds up a signing history with Microsoft. See the install instructions above.

CashFlower was designed from the ground up to keep your financial life private. We don't want your data. We don't have servers to store it on. We don't have a business model that depends on knowing your finances.

The tradeoff is that CashFlower is a manual tool — you update it yourself, it doesn't update itself. For users who value privacy over convenience, that's the point.
